Ceramide is the main component of the lipids among cells of the most lateral cuticle in human skin. It is a water-soluble lipid substance. The structure is similar to that of substance that makes up the cuticle layer of the skin. It can quickly penetrate into the skin and combine with the water in the cuticle layer, then forming a network structure that locks moisture. Currently, as a moisturizer. Both Ceramide 3 and Ceramide 3B belong to the category of Ceramide NP. The fatty acid part is stearic acid/oleic acid, which belongs to non-hydroxyl fatty acid (N); and it is constructed by amide bond with phytosphingosine (P). Both are belongs to ceramide NP. So Ceramide NP is not a single substance, but is a general term for a large group of ceramides that have a similar structural principle. Plamed mainly supply Ceramide 3B, it is usually used in cosmetics product for moisturizing, repairing skin, and anti-inflammation.
